A lifelong Florida resident, Michael Jones grew up in Fort Walton Beach. After graduating from Fort Walton Beach High School, Michael attended Florida State University where he obtained both his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1978 and his Juris Doctor in 1981.
Upon graduating from law school, Michael was employed with a Tallahassee law firm for three years before returning home in 1984 and settling with his family in Niceville. At that time Niceville was a small and somewhat isolated community on the north side of Choctawhatchee Bay. In 1993 the Mid-Bay Bridge was built connecting Niceville to Destin which allowed that small community to grow and become a vibrant and thriving city. With that growth, has come the need to provide a full range of legal services in Niceville.
In Michael's thirty years of trial practice he has mainly concentrated in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death and probate litigation. Michael was a partner in a local personal injury law firm until founding his own firm in 1996. As a result of Michael and Dana’s lifelong friendship, and out of the respect that they and John have for each other, Michael joined the firm in 2011 to become Matthews Jones & Hawkins, LLP
Though Michael will continue to limit his practice to representing injured and disabled persons, probate, guardianship and estate planning, Matthews Jones & Hawkins will provide that full range of legal services in the Niceville area.
At least fifty percent of our personal injury cases come as a result of referrals from other attorneys or past clients. We are grateful for this referral business and believe it is a testament to the fact that we provide professional, personal and responsive services to our clients. We are here to make a substantial and meaningful difference in the lives of our injured clients and we treat each with full attention, kindness and compassion.
Michael has been married to Mary Jones since 1978 and they have one son who is currently attending medical school.
