Born and raised in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida Scott received a B.A. in Finance from the University of Florida in 1999 while working as a financial analyst for ITC Deltacom in West Point, Georgia. Scott earned his law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 2004. During law school Scott interned with the Staff Attorney's Office for the 4th Judicial Circuit and with the Duval County General Counsel's office.
After graduating from Florida Coastal School of Law, Scott joined Matthews, Jones & Hawkins, LLP in 2005. As a transactional attorney his practice specializes in residential and commercial real estate development, landlord and tenant matters, land use, business/corporate law, and foreclosures.
Scott's primary focus is representing clients in all stages of real estate development. This specialization has led Scott to develop a unique practice area which focuses on all aspects of real estate development, including: development entity formation, structure and organization; negotiation and preparation of property acquisition contracts; negotiations with banks and lenders; real estate closings; negotiations with local planning agencies, development order and entitlement procurement, development of regional impact and planned unit developments; negotiations and preparation of contracts with consultants and contractors; coordination of engineering, surveying, and construction functions; homeowner association formation, documents, covenants and restrictions, and general representation. Scott represents a number of banking clients in real estate foreclosure. Scott also assists clients with landlord/tenant matters.
